Vadanamkurissy overbridge construction gathers pace; traffic blocked for ten days

Shoranur: The construction of Vadanamkurissy railway overbridge has finally gathered pace after countless protests and grievances in the last few years. The construction works will be done by completely blocking the traffic in this route for the next ten days. Meanwhile, the traffic blockade has affected the common people, especially students.
The construction of the protection wall and the service road to Shoranur side was resumed on Friday morning. Meanwhile, the works to reduce the height of the approach road is still underway. The service road would be paved with interlocking bricks. Lots of students in the vicinity rely on this route for daily commute.
Currently, the buses from Pattambi to Shoranur stops at one side of the bridge to deboard the passengers. The passengers say that the construction of the Vadanamkurissy overbridge that was supposed to be completed in a year got delayed for over four years. The roads in the area were ruined and traffic blockades became a common thing, adding to the woes of the people. Meanwhile, countless protests and marches led by various political parties and organisations too were held to attract the attention of the authorities.
The authorities finally intervened when the transportation in this area became extremely difficult. KIFB has allotted ₹34 crore for the construction of Vadanamkurissy railway overbridge.
