Nellimoottil Padi: The collision between a car and a KSRTC bus heading towards Kottarakkara on Monday evening is the latest in a series of accidents at Nellimoottil Padi junction in Adoor caused by signal points.

The accident occurred to the south of the point, where buses usually stop. Meanwhile, buses plying to Adoor from the Kottarakkara side usually stop on the opposite side of the road. This blocks other vehicles and leads to collisions on the road. Due to frequent traffic snarls, it is common to see vehicles passing the signal before it turns green.

Buses plying to the Adoor side from Chavara road also halt between the signal points. Drivers have to exercise extreme caution while navigating the narrow stretch. The poorly placed bus stops waste time that other vehicles could use to pass.

Deploying police officers in the area has failed to prevent accidents. Although there is room to relocate the bus stops, authorities have not taken any action.
