Thiruvananthapuram: A 14-year-old boy died after jumping from the 16th floor of an apartment building in Chenkottukonam here on Wednesday. The deceased, Pranav, was a Class 9 student of Alan Feldman Public School, Kazhakkoottam. He died on the spot, with his skull fatally fractured due to the impact of the fall.

The police said the boy had returned from school and went to the flat, owned by his grandparents who are currently in Canada, without his parents' knowledge. The grandparents had left the keys with his parents, and the boy would occasionally visit the flat to study quietly. None of the neighbours noticed his presence at the apartment that day.

The boy reportedly jumped from the flat. Police said they are investigating the incident and added that the exact details are still unclear. The reason behind the suspected suicide has not been determined yet.

Pranav's father is working at Infopark, while his mother is an employee at a bank.
