Thiruvananthapuram: Worsening the administrative crisis in Kerala University, Vice-Chancellor Dr Mohanan Kunnummal has issued an order restricting Dr K S Anil Kumar from using the official vehicle of the university registrar. As per the order, the car has to be kept in the university’s garage. However, on Tuesday, Anil arrived at the university and left later in the official car itself.
The Vice-Chancellor’s order was addressed to Dr Mini Kappan, who is holding the additional charge of the registrar and the university’s security officer. According to the order, the security officer should collect the key of the car from the driver and hand it over to Mini Kappan.
In an earlier order, the Vice-Chancellor had directed the security officer to prevent the registrar from entering the university office. But this order was also not followed. The latest order was issued on Tuesday evening.
The Vice-Chancellor said that official vehicles cannot be used by suspended officers. There was nothing wrong in keeping the vehicle in the custody of the university’s syndicate, he added.
“A suspended officer is not supposed to come to the office. The registrar is not following this rule. Had the registrar submitted an application seeking withdrawal of his suspension, it would have been considered,” said the VC.
