Thiruvananthapuram: A 19-year-old youth died of electrocution after his two-wheeler hit a fallen electric post in Nedumangad, Thiruvananthapuram district, early on Sunday. The deceased is Akshay, a native of Panayamuttam in Nedumangad.

The accident occurred around 2 am when a tree fell and brought down an electric post, causing live wires to snap and lie across the road, reported Manorama News. Akshay was returning home after work when the incident took place.

According to preliminary police findings, three people were travelling on a bike, which came in contact with the live wires. Akshay was riding the vehicle. Police believe the riders failed to notice the fallen post and wires across the road. Akshay’s body has been kept at the Nedumangad District Hospital. Police have registered a case and launched a further investigation.
