Woman strangled to death in Aluva lodge, accused confesses to killing in video call

Aluva: A youth strangled a woman to death at a lodge here on Sunday night. The deceased is Akhila (34), a native of Kundara, Kollam. According to the police, the accused, Binu (35), a native of Neryamangalam, murdered the woman following a quarrel. His friends reportedly informed the police about the incident.
It is learnt that Binu made a video call to his friends and showed them Akhila’s lifeless body. The accused used Akhila's shawl to strangle her. Binu and Akhila, who were in a relationship, used to book rooms in the same lodge. Police suspect that a quarrel over their marriage led to the murder. It is reported that the youth refused to marry Akhila despite her insistence. The police are interrogating the accused, who was taken into custody from the crime scene.
