Two brothers were found electrocuted at a chicken farm in Vazhavatta, near Kalpetta in Wayanad district, on Friday morning. The deceased are Poovannikkunnel Anoop (38) and Poovannikkunnel Shinu (35), both natives of Theneri.

The duo had taken the farm on lease a few months ago. Locals alleged that the electrocution was caused by power fencing installed near the shed.

The farm owner, Pulpparambil Veettil Simon, found the bodies around 8 am. Following an alert by an employee, residents rushed the brothers to a private hospital, where doctors declared them brought dead.

Shinu's body was kept at the general hospital in Kalpetta, while Anoop's was kept at the private hospital. The Meenangadi police registered a case of unnatural death and conducted an inquest. Officials from the Kerala State Electricity Board, Muttil, inspected the site later in the day.
