Kozhikode: In a shocking incident, a Malayali woman pursuing her degree at a private college in Bengaluru was allegedly raped by her house owner. Soladevanahalli police have arrested Ashraf, a native of Kozhikode, based on the woman’s complaint. She is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bengaluru.

According to the complaint, the victim had been staying as a paying guest at Ashraf’s residence in Bengaluru for the past 10 days. She alleged that on Saturday night, Ashraf invited her to his room and threatened to deny her food and accommodation if she refused to comply with his demands. When she resisted, Ashraf allegedly forced her into his car, took her to an under-construction building in the city, and sexually assaulted her.

"On the night of 02/08/2025, around 12.41 am, while I was sitting at our PG, Ashraf approached me and said he would provide food and accommodation and asked me to cooperate with him. When I refused, he held my hand, dragged me, and forced me into a car, took me to a room. There, he sexually assaulted me," she said in the complaint.

The woman told police that she had tried to send her location with a friend, but could not do so. According to her complaint, Ashraf took her back to the PG hostel around 2 am. Police have arrested Ashraf after recording the woman's statement.
