Pathanamthitta: A woman who was stabbed by her husband in Pathanamthitta succumbed to her injuries early Sunday. The woman, identified as Sharimol, a native of Pullad, has died while undergoing treatment at the Kottayam Medical College Hospital (MCH).

Her father and another relative, who were also injured, are receiving treatment at the Kottayam MCH, according to the Koipuram Police. The accused, Jayakumar, fled the scene after the incident.

The police said that the attack stemmed from a dispute between Jayakumar and Sharimol on Saturday evening.  During the altercation, Jayakumar allegedly stabbed his wife and also injured her father and another relative who were present at the house. 

Though all three were rushed to Kottayam MCH, Sharimol later succumbed to her injuries.

The police said that an investigation is underway and they are trying to locate Jayakumar.
