Kochi: A 20-year-old woman was killed and eight others were injured in a road accident in Tamil Nadu on Saturday night. The deceased is Ernakulam native Gouri Nanda, a professional dancer. Among the injured from Ernakulam and Thrissur, one is reported to be in critical condition.

According to reports, the car in which Gouri and the others were travelling lost control and fell into a pit near the Ammapettai bypass, close to Cuddalore Chidambaram. It is learnt that they were on their way to Puducherry.

Ernakulam natives Freddy (29) and Abhirami (20), along with Thrissur residents Vaisal (27), Sukhila (20), and Anamika (20), are among the eight who sustained injuries in the accident. They are currently undergoing treatment at Kadaloor Government Medical College Hospital.

Gouri Nanda succumbed to her injuries while being rushed to the hospital.

Annamalai Nagar police have registered a case in connection with the accident.
