New Mahe: The authorities have been showing apathy towards the demand to build an overbridge at Peringadi railway gate even as the constriction of ROBs are progressing at nearby areas. The railway gate closes quite often for longer duration at Chokli – Spinning Mill – Peringadi Road in the national highway blocking vehicles from the New Mahi from Kuthuparamba and Peringathoor regions.
The Peringadi railway gate is at the Mahe Road ahead of the singular signal post in the Thalassery – Mahe bypass. Both small and big vehicles to Mahe bridge area often get trapped in the heavy traffic blockades for up to half an hour in the bypass due to this. Meanwhile, local residents have been urging elected representatives and various political parties to take up this issue and initiate discussions. Besides, various public committees too have been formed to solve this problem.
