Thrissur: A Class 8 student from Varavoor Government Higher Secondary School reportedly suffered an electric shock on Thursday while standing near the classroom door during school dispersal. The student is said to have accidentally touched a crack in the wall and felt the shock. The incident comes just weeks after 13-year-old Mithun was electrocuted while retrieving a sandal from the rooftop of Thevalakkara Boys School.

After reaching home, the child informed his parents, who first took him to Ottupara Taluk Hospital. As there was no doctor available, he was later admitted to a private hospital. The boy’s father, Aneesh, said his son is still experiencing severe pain in his hand. Doctors have advised an MRI scan if the pain doesn’t improve in three weeks. Aneesh, a daily wage worker, said the treatment may cost around ₹6,000, a sum he cannot afford.

The school headmistress, Seetha, said they were informed about the incident on Friday and that an inspection was carried out, but no source of electric shock was found on the campus.
