Alappuzha: More human remains were recovered by the Crime Branch and State Police from the residence of P M Sebastian (65) in Cherthala, Alappuzha. Sebastian is the main accused in the missing case of Jainamma (Jane Mathew), a 54-year-old woman from Athirampuzha in Kottayam. He is also a suspect in the disappearance of two other women, Bindu Padmanabhan (52) of Kadakkarappally and Aisha (57), a government official hailing from Varanad.

Investigators said that DNA tests would be conducted on the recovered remains to identify the victims.

The extensive search operation involved draining ponds on the large property, emptying the septic tank, and removing tiles from the floor and roof of the house. During the search, investigators found pieces of cloth, a rosary, and bloodstains in an outdoor washroom.

A handbag, a shawl, and fragments of cloth were recovered from the bottom of a drained pond. A rosary was also seen hanging from a tree on the property. An earthmover was used to assist with the search.

The operation began at 12.30 pm and continued until 7.30 pm. A cadaver dog trained to detect human remains underground was also brought to the site.

However, Sebastian, who was brought to the scene, did not cooperate with the investigation.

Jainamma was reported missing on December 23, 2024, from Ettumanoor. Crime Branch officials from the Kottayam unit, who traced her mobile phone location, were led to Sebastian's house. During their investigation, officials noticed bloodstains in his house and recovered skeletal remains, including a skull, thigh bone, and teeth, on July 28. An additional eight bone fragments were found near the same location on Monday.

The investigators believe that Jainamma was killed at Sebastian’s house. They have collected DNA samples from the relatives of  Jainamma and Aisha to identify the victims. Officials from Alappuzha Crime Branch who are investigating the disappearance of Bindu Padmanabhan joined the search.
