Kalpetta: The fourth and seventh standard equivalent examinations conducted by the State Literacy Mission have concluded. The exams were held at SKMJ High School, Kalpetta, Emmaus Villa Special School, Thonichal and St Thomas AUPS, Mullankolly.
Moidu, 60, a native of Kambalakkad, emerged as the shining star among candidates of varying ages who appeared for the exams. Having dropped out after the second standard at Kambalakkad GUP School, Moidu fulfilled his long-cherished dream by declaring a holiday for his tea shop, his means of livelihood and turned up at the exam centre. His goal now is to surpass his wife Jameela, who studied up to the seventh standard and their three children in educational qualifications.
“After securing the fourth standard equivalent certificate, I will take the seventh standard equivalent exam, then the tenth standard, followed by higher secondary and eventually complete graduation through equivalent courses,” Moidu shared with a smile.
Radha takes exam with her young son in tow
Radha, a native of Ambileri hamlet, sat for the seventh standard equivalent exam with her young son, who caused a commotion just as she was about to leave for the test. She rekindled her long-forgotten dream by writing the exam with her son Adithyan, a nursery student, nestled in her arms.
The 36-year-old, belonging to the tribal community, aspires to clear the tenth standard equivalent exam and eventually secure a government job by passing the PSC exam.
The evaluation of the equivalent exams will be completed under the supervision of the District Institute of Education and Training before September 15. Certificates will be distributed to successful candidates, who will also have the opportunity to enroll in this year’s tenth standard equivalent course.
