Woman’s body found in Alappuzha Express coach sent to Chennai for repairs

A decomposed body of an unidentified woman was found in a detached coach of the Alappuzha Express, which was brought to the Central Railway Station yard in Chennai for repairs. The body, believed to be of a woman aged over 50, was recovered from the coach, which had been stationary for over 10 days due to a faulty fan. According to railway police, the body appeared to be around seven days old and was in a swollen, decomposed state.
The body was found after railway staff reported a foul smell coming from the coach. The woman, who was wearing multiple layers of clothing, is suspected of being a vagabond. CCTV footage showing her walking near the coach has been recovered. The circumstances that led to her death are being investigated.
