Perinthalmanna: Members of the Mathrusamithi (Mothers’ Council) prepared traditional herbal recipes, commonly used in rural Kerala for health conservation during the Karkidakam month, for the children of Sree Valluvanad Vidyabhavan.

The initiative was part of the Karkidakam month observance at Sree Valluvanad Vidyalayam, which included the distribution of herbal porridge and an exhibition of other recipes. Led by Mathrusamithi president M G Deepthi, the mothers prepared the Karkidakam recipes and brought them to the institution.

The mothers also explained to the children the various leaves and millets used in preparing these dishes, their preparation methods and the health benefits associated with them. The children tasted the dishes with keen interest.

Mathrusamithi members Vipina Jayan, Divya Dileep, K Anupama, Sajitha Ismayil, and K P Soumya played key roles in leading the initiative.
