Perumbavoor: Dr. Meenakshi (35), a native of Erattupetta, was found dead inside her flat in Perumbavoor on Friday. It is suspected that she committed suicide by injecting herself with an overdose of anaesthesia drugs.

Meenakshi was working as an anaesthetist at a private hospital here. A syringe and vials of anaesthesia drugs were recovered from her flat at Kunnuvazhi in Marampally.

A divorcee, she had been living alone in the flat for the past two years. According to her colleagues, she did not respond to repeated phone calls from the hospital on Saturday. Later, her neighbours were alerted, and when they broke open the flat, they found her dead in the bedroom.

The exact cause of death will be confirmed after the autopsy.
