Idukki: Four Telangana natives were seriously injured when their car collided with a jeep near Chelimada, Idukki, on Sunday morning.

The car, carrying Sabarimala pilgrims returning from the shrine, was headed towards Kumily when it rammed into a jeep carrying tourists from the opposite direction.

The injured were Aram Bharat, Prashanth, Aravind, and Kishore, all from Devarakonda in Telangana. They were admitted to a private hospital in Kattappana. Another man, Niveli Balaji, a passenger in the jeep, was shifted to Theni Medical College Hospital with serious injuries.

Police said the accident was likely caused after the car driver dozed off. Other jeep passengers sustained minor injuries and received first aid in Kumily. Police registered a case into the incident.
