Thiruvananthapuram: CPM state secretary MV Govindan on Monday dismissed as “nonsense” the allegations raised by Chennai-based businessman B Muhammad Sharshad and declined to respond to the media’s questions. Sharshad had accused Govindan’s son Shyamjith of leaking his confidential letter to the CPM Polit Bureau.
Addressing the media on Sunday, Sharshad alleged that Govindan blocked his phone number after he informed him about Shyamjith’s links with London-based businessman Rajesh Krishna, who is allegedly involved in various scams.
In his letter to the CPM leadership, Sharshad further alleged that several prominent leaders of the party were linked with Rajesh Krishna in multiple corrupt dealings. Challenging Govindan, he claimed he holds evidence to prove all his allegations.
“I still have faith in the CPM. I don’t think the party would declare war against me, because I did not leak my confidential letter. I had complained about the leak of my letter to CPM general secretary MA Baby. But this second letter was also leaked. Even media personnel got access to it,” said Sharshad.
Sharshad said that the party had ignored all his complaints. He added that, although he had filed a complaint with the DGP over the letter leak, no action was taken.
At the same time, allegations surfaced that EP Jayarajan had fielded Sharshad against the party. Responding to this, Sharshad claimed that he had no connection with Jayarajan other than taking a selfie with him.
Sharshad came up with the allegations after Rajesh Krishna filed a defamation case against him, producing as evidence the letter Sharshad had earlier forwarded to the CPM leadership.
