Pandalam: Minister for Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development, J Chinjurani, announced that a 24-hour mobile veterinary clinic will soon be launched to strengthen animal care services, addressing the long-standing demand of dairy farmers.

She made the announcement while inaugurating the block-level gathering of dairy farmers, jointly organised by the Pandalam Block Panchayat, Kurambala Dairy Producers’ Cooperative Society, and APCOS.

According to the Minister, ₹8 crore has been earmarked for the cattle insurance scheme, and financial assistance is being provided to farmers who lose their cattle.

Deputy Speaker Chittayam Gopakumar presided over the function. Block Panchayat President B S Aneesh Mon, Standing Committee Chairpersons Lali John and V M Madhu, Standing Council members Santosh Kumar and Rekha Anil, Municipal Chairman Achankunju John, Councillors G Rajesh Kumar, P G Ajitha Kumari and Ambika Rajesh, along with Dairy Society Presidents Prof Krishna Pillai, T Samuel, Lissy Mathai, E N Kunjan Pillai and K K Karunakaran, Secretary R Ratheesh, and Dairy Development Officer Sunitha Beegum were among those who spoke.

On the occasion, Annamma Thayyilethu Malayil and Tholuzham Dairy Society were honoured. Dairy Development Department Assistant Director Reeba Thankachan, Veterinary Surgeon Dr M S Subin, and Block Panchayat Development Officer R Sujitha led technical sessions for farmers.
