Kuruppanthara: With their pet dog suffering from a serious kidney ailment, a sister duo from Maharashtra travelled all the way to the Lord Saeeshwara Temple at Kuruppanthara to perform pujas and special offerings for the animal.
Shwetha and Komal, accompanied by their dogs Chinnu and Chinju, visited the Omallur temple and performed the Chayadanam ritual. Chinnu has developed kidney disease, and after giving it several treatments, the sisters sought the ritual at Omallur in the hope of healing their beloved pet.
Chayadanam is an offering performed at the temple to alleviate the effects of Shani Dosha and to seek relief from illnesses. The ritual involves reflecting the devotee’s image in oil inside an iron vessel and using this oil to perform abhishekam on the idol of the main deity.
Temple manager (karyadarshi) Arshasree Shivanandamayee granted permission for the dogs to enter the temple. The sisters also participated in the temple’s food donation programme. The ritual took place on Amavasi day (Saturday), drawing devotees from several states.
