Thrissur: A young man threatened to end his life after climbing onto the roof of a two-storey house near the Rashtra Deepika office at Veliynnoor here on Monday. The man is identified as Rinshad (30) from Pattambi, Palakkad.

The incident happened around 12.30 pm. Fire and rescue personnel, along with the East police, reached the spot and tried to persuade the youth to come down. However, he became violent and moved onto the sunshade of the building, hurling stones, roof tiles and bottles kept there at the rescuers.

Eventually, the fire force officials overpowered him and brought him down safely with the help of a rescue net. The man is reportedly suffering from mental health issues.
