Kochi: Haryana-based Systra MVA Consulting India Pvt Ltd has begun preparing the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Kochi Metro Phase 3 extension from Aluva to Angamaly.
The DPR, being prepared at a cost of ₹1.03 crore, is expected to be completed within six months. “The initial work of extending the metro to Angamaly via Kochi airport has now commenced. The Central and State governments have already approved the DPR study for the metro’s third phase, which will ensure world-class travel facilities for people in the Aluva–Angamaly sector and drive growth in this region,” said KMRL Managing Director Loknath Behera.
The project involves the construction of a 17.5-km elevated metro viaduct, with nearly 3 km proposed as an underground stretch.
According to Behera, extensive field investigations, surveys, and engineering studies will be undertaken as part of the DPR. The cost of the study is being met under the Central Financial Assistance Scheme of the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.
KMRL has also invited the public to share their suggestions on the project. Inputs can be emailed to contact@kmrl.co.in, the agency said in a press release.
