Palakkad: BJP Kerala Vice President C Krishnakumar on Wednesday dismissed sexual assault allegations raised by a woman from Palakkad, claiming the charges were fabricated and called it part of a political conspiracy.

Talking to reporters, Krishnakumar said the complainant, who is his relative, complained to party leadership to take revenge over a property dispute. He added that the woman had previously filed complaints against him, including sexual assault allegations, in 2014.

“The woman had filed a civil case against me after her father wrote a will naming my wife as his sole successor. After recording my father-in-law’s statement, a local court dismissed the case in July 2024,” he said.

The woman has complained to the BJP state chief Rajiv Chandrasekhar. Krishnakumar alleged that the sexual assault charges were part of a Congress-led conspiracy,  in an attempt to divert attention from the sexual harassment allegations against Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkoottathil.

He also noted Opposition Leader VD Satheesan's statement, which threatened the BJP and the CPM to end protests against the MLA.

Meanwhile, former BJP leader Sandeep G Varier, who switched over to the Congress, told Manorama News that the same woman had earlier raised allegations before senior BJP leaders, including Sobha Surendran.

Krishnakumar stated that the party leadership has not sought an explanation from him regarding the complaint and described the charges as part of a broader conspiracy. Without naming Sandeep, he alleged that political rivals were behind the allegations.

Krishnakumar had contested against Rahul in the recent Palakkad Assembly bypoll. The Congress suspended the MLA from the party for six months following sexual harassment allegations.
