Munnar: The Health Department has adopted intensive preventive measures to control the outbreak of viral fever and cold in Idamalakkudi panchayat. Medical camps and testing will be carried out in all settlements.

Around 150 people sought treatment for fever at the medical camps conducted in ten settlements over the past two days. Meanwhile, the Health Department has decided to continue medical camps until August 31 to contain the spread of viral fever.

The camps are being conducted by Dr Sakhil Raveendran, medical officer at the Idamalakkudi Primary Health Centre, along with Dr Sree Visakh and medical workers from Devikulam and Chithirapuram healthcare centres. The medical officer said that preventive medicines are also being distributed at the camps. A six-year-old boy died a few days ago in Koodallarkudi due to severe fever.
