Thirurangadi: Complaints are rife against the alleged unscientific construction of dividers as part of the national highway development in Kakkada junction. The dividers are apparently causing trouble for vehicles as well as pedestrians.

Meanwhile, there are allegations that these dividers are built larger in size than what is actually required. Traffic blockades have become common here due to the huge size of the dividers. Vehicles including ambulances are often seen struggling to move past these dividers.

KPA Majid MLA and municipal chairman KP Muhammadkutty have submitted representations to the National Highway Authority urging to find a quick solution to this menace.

Meanwhile, municipal permanent committee president Iqbal Kallungal and councillors Arifa Valiyat, Sujini Mulamukkil and CP Habiba Basheer had already appealed to the district collector. The collector had informed that their complaint would be handed over to the concerned authorities for further action.

However, the dividers have been constructed without informing them about the subsequent construction plans. The public and the elected representatives have been urging the authorities to reduce the size of the dividers to make them safer and also to ease the traffic blockades in the area.
