Kuttikkanam: Four vehicle accidents were reported within three hours on the National Highway between Maruthumoodu and Peerumedu. Though no injuries were reported, the vehicles involved sustained damage.

The first accident occurred near Maruthumoodu around 11 am when a car, after colliding with an oncoming vehicle, spun out of control and struck an autorickshaw before coming to a halt. Fortunately, no one was injured.

Shortly afterwards, another mishap took place nearby when a car travelling from Kuttikkanam to Mundakkayam lost control and rammed into a KSRTC bus. The driver had applied sudden brakes after the vehicle ahead stopped abruptly, causing the car to skid off the road and hit the bus. The passengers escaped unhurt.

A third accident was reported near the Valanjanganam waterfalls, where a car plunged into a pit near a cluster of bamboo trees after losing control. The passengers had a miraculous escape and were rescued by the Fire and Rescue Department.

The vehicle, coming from the Mundakkayam side, had attempted to overtake a KSRTC bus but suddenly swerved, colliding with another vehicle approaching from the opposite direction before plunging into the pit. The fourth accident occurred near Thattathikkanam in Kuttikkanam. No injuries were reported in this incident either.
