Chalakkudy: Carmel Higher Secondary School set a unique record on the day of their Onam celebrations. A mega band of 2,000 students sang the famous Malayalam songs related to the Onam theme in perfect rhythm. Ten Onam songs were sung in 14 minutes, creating a new world record.

'Poovili Poovili', 'Onappoove Poove Omal Poove, 'Thiruvavani Raavu', 'Thiruvonapulari Than Thirumulkaazhcha Vangan' were some of the popular songs the students sang in unison. Students from LP, UP, high school, and higher secondary classes were part of the mega concert that presented Onam songs.

The fete has now found a place in the Best of India World Record. The event was inaugurated by Municipal Chairman Shibu Valappan and presided over by School Manager Fr. Anoop Puthussery.

Best of India Records representatives, MK Jose and Petre, handed over the record to the school principal, Fr. Jose Thannikkal. Noted violinist and world record winner MS Vishwanath was the chief guest of the event. The students were thrilled and impressed by Vishwanathan's magical performance.

School PTA President Dr Sinoj Antony, school secretary Lisa Suresh, school leader Anette Shiju, finance administrator Fr. James Alappat, academic administrator Rosemol Anto, and MPTA President Sharo Shony addressed the students.
