Thirumittakode: Inaugurating the mega chlorination drive Jalamanu Jeevan at Arangottukara, as part of the preventive measures to fight water-borne diseases like amoebic encephalitis, Minister MB Rajesh urged the people to be alert about such diseases.

Water-borne diseases could be prevented by keeping the water bodies clean. The minister added that it is the responsibility of each person to preserve the water sources and keep them clean.

The project is implemented by the Haritha Kerala Mission and the general education department in association with the local self-government department.

The wells and drinking water sources in all the wards in the panchayat would be cleaned in the first phase of the project that aims to prevent water-borne diseases as well as to ensure safe drinking water. Panchayat president T Suhara presided over the inaugural event.
