Varadiyam: The public has launched a protest against the unscientific road development plans in the centre. A part of the road has been raised irregularly at Varadiyam Centre as part of the Mundoor – Kottekad road development project.

The shops and buildings close to this area now stand at a depth of over three feet. Besides, pedestrians and vehicles too struggle to access the main road after the nearby roads too aligned its curve proportionately. The road was raised, without any prior notice, on Sunday.

Following complaints from local residents, the public works department’s assistant executive engineer and assistant engineer visited the spot and held discussions with the people.

The public ended the protest only after the officials agreed to solve the issues raised by the people. KPCC secretary Rajendran Arangath, Puzhakkal block panchayat member PV Biju, Avanoor panchayat member Suresh Avanoor, Congress Adattu vice president Linto Varadiyam and V Somasundaran took part in the discussions held with the PWD engineers.
