Munnar: A 17-member team of visitors from South Korea offered the holy mass in the Korean language at Mount Carmel Basilica in the renowned hill station of Munnar around 8.30 am on Wednesday. Two priests, Fr Peter and Fr Thomas Aquinas, were among the team members, who hailed from Cheongju, a city in North Chungcheong province of South Korea.

The group, led by Fr Thomas, was visiting Kerala to meet Korean nuns serving at Kurichy in Changanassery, Kottayam district. Fr Peter, who serves as vicar of a Catholic church in Chennai for Koreans living in the city, joined them at Kurichy before travelling to Munnar.

Mount Carmel Basilica, among the earliest churches established by Spanish missionaries in Kerala’s high ranges, hosted the visitors. They stayed overnight at Carmel Top, adjacent to the Basilica. Rector Fr Michael Valiyinchiyil welcomed the team. After the mass, the delegation returned to Kurichy by Wednesday afternoon.
