Thaliparamba: The grand procession on the day of Milad un Nabi was cheered on by a Maveli, decked in all his finery and olakkuda (palm frond umbrella). Meanwhile, the organisers of the rally honoured the ‘grand old’ king by presenting a gift. The rally met Maveli on the auspicious day when Thiruvonam fell on the same day as Milad un Nabi.

The heartwarming incident that denotes the unity and fraternity of Onam, which is a unique tradition of Kerala's culture and heritage, happened at Muyyam Varadul in Kurumathoor panchayat. The entire state was in a celebratory mood as both the festivals coincidentally fell on the same day. The procession was organised by the Muyyam Varadul Muhayiddin Juma Masjid and Noorul Huda Madrasa Committee.

Meanwhile, an artist donning Maveli’s costume had already begun visiting the homes as part of the Onam celebrations of Navaranga Kala Samiti in Varadul. The Maveli and the members of the Kala Samiti then waited to receive the rally and share the joy. The Maveli walked towards the rally, showering the people in the procession with blessings and wishing them a happy and prosperous Onam.

The authorities of the Masjid, who were walking in the front row shook hands with the Maveli and greeted him with warmth. They also gifted Maveli a packet of sweet treats as a token of their love. Meanwhile, the video of this amazing interaction posted by the Masjid committee members on the Mahal committee’s WhatsApp group instantly became viral.

The authorities of the Muhayiddin Juma Masjid said that it was a special occasion to celebrate the unity and fraternity among the people of Kerala. The Varadul Masjid has been sharing a beautiful and strong bond with the temples of this area since generations. The temples often present gifts to the Masjid when festivities like Kaliyattam are held here.
