Kannur: The `Bye-bye Breast Cancer' torchlight campaign from Kasargod to Thiruvananthapuram, organised by the Kerala Federation of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (KFOG) as part of an awareness programme against breast cancer, was accorded a reception under the joint aegis of the Malabar Cancer Care Society, College of Commerce, Dhanalakshmi College of Nursing, and Koyili College of Nursing. District panchayat president K K Ratnakumari inaugurated the meeting. Kannur Gynaec Society president Dr K Beena handed over the torch to Wayanad Gynaec Society president Dr Omana Madhusudhanan.

Deputy Mayor P.Indira and Malabar Cancer Care Society president D Krishnanadha Pai were the chief guests. KFOG president Dr Suchitra Sudheer delivered the keynote address. Kannur Gynaec Society former president D. M. Muhammadali, North Malabar Chamber of Commerce president T K Ramesh Kumar, College of Commerce chairman C Anilkumar, K N Pushpalatha and Dr Geetha Mekkoth also spoke. A flash mob was performed by students of the Kannur College of Commerce to spread awareness about breast cancer.
