Adukathbayal: Thalipaduppu - Kelugudde road, Adukkathbayal service road and Kelugudde road have turned into muddy puddles due to leakage in water authority’s pipeline. The pipeline at the Thalipaduppu - Kelugudde road was broken around two weeks ago.
Although the mud was removed to repair the pipeline, the leakage has not been stopped yet. Meanwhile, the pipeline at the Kelugudde Cross Road near Adukathbayal service road has been leaking for more than eight months. Water-logging has become so severe that the area near the old Anganwadi now looks like a mini lake.
The sand dunes that are over six feet tall near the service road gets soaked in the rain and block the drainages. Although mud is removed from the drainages regularly, it gets blocked again. Mud gets washed into the two-metre-wide drainage at the Kelugudde road in the national highway. Besides, thickets have also grown inside the drainage blocking the flow of water.
The Uralungal Labour Contract Co-operative Society that has taken up the contract for national highway development at Adukathbayal service road - Gudde Temple Road junction and Adukathbayal service road - Kelugudde Road Junction areas had done excellent tarring works here. Meanwhile, people have been urging to build a protective wall to prevent mud from getting washed into the service road.
The water authority stated that the pipelines get damaged during the laying of underground electrical cable lines and also during road development. They added that authorities of the concerned departments have been instructed to repair the pipelines.
