Kozhikode: A 42-year-old man was found dead after being hit by a train near Moodadi railway gate, Koyilandy, around 11.30 pm on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Moyiloor Kunnummal Abhilash, a construction worker from Hill Bazaar, Moodadi. The loco pilot of the Mangaluru–Kacheguda Express informed authorities after spotting the body on the track.

Koyilandy police shifted the body to Kozhikode Government Medical College Hospital. A case has been registered under Section 194 of the BNS, which states that Abhilash was hit by a train while crossing the track.

Abhilash was the son of late Kunhikkanaran and is survived by his mother Sobha and brothers Hareesh and Rineesh. The body will be handed over to the family after post-mortem.
