Kolayad: Driving on the Changala Gate – Peruva Road has become a nightmare, after the road became significantly damaged. The authorities have been urged to widen the Changala Gate – Peruva Road and also to do macadam tarring. Buses, including those of KSRTC, run services on the Peruva route via this road. Besides, lots of small vehicles also use this road regularly.
Moreover, this is a prominent area, where a number of government institutions, including the Peruva primary health centre, government UP school, Peruva post office, Chembukavui ayurvedic dispensary, Anganwadi and the Chembukavu scheduled tribe hostel function.
Potholes have formed on the road after the tarring in the four-kilometre stretch, until Peruva PHC, has been completely damaged. Driving vehicles on this road had been extremely difficult during the rainy season.
People from Wayanad could easily reach the Mattannur airport via Korom, Kunjom and Panom, while travellers from Vilangad, Thottilpalam and Vaninmel in Kozhikode too could access these routes. Peruva is already one of the best-loved tourist spots in the district. More tourists could be lured to the area if the 10-kilometre stretch of the road is repaired and finished with macadam tarring.
