Protests planned in Kozhikode against troubles caused by NHAI's failed promises

Vadakara: The meeting of various organisations led by the 'janakeeya samiti' (public committee) has decided to organise extensive protest programs and marches demanding to swiftly complete the construction of the railway overbridge in Chhorode as part of the highway development in the area, reopen the roads that were closed and allow entry to the service roads.
Although the authorities had promised to complete the construction of the railway overbridge and the road underneath within six months, it is still not completed. Besides, the Malal Mukku Road remains closed. The convention alleged that neither the company that got the contract for the construction nor the National Highway Authority of India have kept their word.
The convention was inaugurated by K K Rema MLA, while panchayat president P P Chandrasekharan presided over the meeting. Panchayat member K K Rineesh, Jayarajan, Jisha Panangad, Lalitha Govindalayam, V Dineshan, P T K Najmal, K E Ismail, C P Sreedharan, V P Shashi, R Sathyan, V P Ramesh and R K Ramesh Babu spoke at the convention. Meanwhile, the merchants in the area closed down their shops to attend the convention and express their solidarity.
