Pattambi: The Pattambi–Kulappulli Road from Nila Hospital to the Institute of Printing Technology, Kulappully, is being renovated by increasing its width. Commuters hope that the severe traffic blockades in the area will be solved once the road is widened.

Currently, the maintenance works in the stretch between Mele Pattambi Cherpulassery – Palakkad Road Junction and Alex Theatre, which is just under a kilometre, are progressing. The illegal roadside vendors were evicted before the sewage construction began, as part of the road widening project.

Traffic would be banned entirely on this road for two days as construction work is underway here. The traffic restrictions would be in place until midnight. The movement of traffic has been blocked at Mele Pattambiyilam Signal Junction. Although people had protested in the morning against the police for blocking traffic between Signal Junction and Alex Theatre, as there are many banks, petrol pumps and businesses in this area, merchant leaders intervened to pacify the protesters.

Muhammad Muhsim MLA has demanded that the renovation works from Alex Theatre to Signal Junction, as well as to KH, be completed continuously without any delays. The MLA had urged the concerned authorities to evict the illegal roadside vendors and move the electricity and telephone posts and water supply pipes at the meeting of the taluk development samiti. Muhammad Muhsin MLA said that the road will be twice as wide when the maintenance works are over.
