Vypin: A wildlife photographer has spotted the rare Indian spot-billed duck along with its ducklings at Vypin. Photographer Sharath Manjanakad captured pictures of the flock near a paddy field in Kuzhuppilli. The Indian spot-billed duck usually does not lay or hatch eggs near populated areas.
Although lesser whistling ducks, which look similar, are often seen here, it is quite rare to spot the Indian spot-billed duck. Indian spot-billed ducks are migratory birds, but they are now increasingly seen in countryside and paddy fields.
