Vynthala: Encroachments on the sides of the St Euphrasia Road (Convent Road) in Thrissur are being evicted and surveys are done to demarcate the road ahead of its development. Kadukutti panchayat decided to demarcate the road following constant complaints from the local residents about the narrow road. The village officer has also written to the concerned authorities for subsequent action.

The village officer visited the spot to complete the primary inspections. He was accompanied by panchayat member Jackson Varghese and MC Rajan, the representative of the local residents who submitted the complaint. Meanwhile, the village officer said that the report would be handed over to the taluk surveyor after the land inspection.

The people of the locality had submitted a representation to the panchayat secretary when accidents and traffic blockades became regular in this area, mainly because of the narrow road. They pointed out that vehicles and pedestrians going to the government veterinary hospital in Vynthala, homeopathic hospital, St. Joseph’s Convent, the parish, schools and the library were struggling due to the traffic congestion.

The main demand in the representation was to measure the road that comes under the panchayat’s jurisdiction and to demarcate it with boundary marks. The panchayat had asked the village officer to serve notice as per the Kerala Survey and Boundaries Act 1961 and then demarcate the road.
