Kattappana: A 25-year-old teacher was killed in a tragic road accident at Companypadi, Puliyanmala, on the Puliyanmala–Thodupuzha Road on Thursday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Joyce P Shibu, a resident of Murikkadi, Kumily. Joyce, an alumnus of Christ College, was serving as a BBA faculty member at the institution. The accident occurred around 8.15 am when Joyce’s bike collided with an autorickshaw ahead of him. He lost control and fell onto the road, where a lorry coming from the opposite direction ran over him.

Though bystanders rushed to help and attempted to shift him to a hospital, Joyce succumbed to his injuries on the spot. His body has been kept at Iruppathekkar Taluk Hospital. 

The Vandanmedu police have registered a case and begun investigations.
