Thrikkaripur: Construction of footpaths has commenced at various stretches along the Chanthera–Thrikkaripur Road. A footpath is being built along 1.5 km of the 5 km-long road. Works have begun from Kalikkadavu.

Works have been launched in areas near Chanthera Police Station–GUP School, Maniyattu Service Cooperative Bank, Muchilottu Bhagavathy Temple, Government Polytechnic College–Indoor Stadium, Nadakkavu Junction, and Thankayam Junction. The footpath is being constructed at an elevation of 15 cm. The project is being implemented for the safety of pedestrians.

There is a possibility that the land left over after the construction of the footpath may go unused and become bushy over time. This land could be utilised if the footpath is constructed slightly away from its current location. Alternatively, a project should be developed to convert the leftover space into a cycle track. In fact, the Thrikkaripur Cycling Club has already submitted a memorandum to the authorities requesting a cycle track.

The construction of the footpath, installation of dividers at the hazardous Thankayam Junction to regulate vehicle speed, and widening of roads at points where they meet three-way junctions are all part of the same project. Work at Thankayam Junction will begin after the obstacles are removed.
