Kozha Farm Fest in Kottayam: Mud football and mud race thrill the audience

Kuravilangad: The crowds gathered on both sides of the paddy fields and on the road buzzed with excitement as they watched the thrilling mud football and mud race. Football match was held in the muddy field for the first time as part of the Kozha Farm Fest organised by the agriculture development department, farmers’ welfare board and district panchayat.
The muddy and slippery paddy field became a football field where freekicks and penalty shootouts thrilled the crowds. Both kids and grownups enjoyed the excitement of the game as they slipped, fell and ran around the muddy field trying to score goals.
Six teams comprising of students and two teams from general category participated in the various competitions held at the paddy fields owned by the seed production centre in Kozha. Meanwhile, the matches between the students’ teams were more exciting. In the general category, Manjoor team beat Manikavu to become the champions.
Each football match was allowed 20 minutes. Thalayolaparambu Government Vocational Higher Secondary School grabbed the first prize while Brahma Mangalam Vocational Higher Secondary School came second in the students’ category.
Before the football matches, mud race for various categories too was conducted in the field. Students of LP and UP classes too participated in these competitions.
Closing ceremony
Farm Fest Haritharavam held at the district farm, state seed production centre, regional agricultural training centre and Uzhavoor block panchayat auditorium will end today.
- Kozha RATTC - Seminar on multiple farming based on coconut trees will be held at 10 am
- Kozha seed production centre - Seedling planting competition at 11 am
- Block panchayat open auditorium – Closing ceremony at 4 pm will be inaugurated by Minister P Prasad and will be attended by chief whip Dr. N Jayaraj and Mons Joseph MLA.
