16-year-old Assamese boy killed after being hit by ambulance in Kozhikode

Kozhikode: A 16-year-old boy from Assam was killed after being hit by an ambulance while crossing the road at Chelannur on Friday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Piyar Ali (16), son of Rajab Ali from RK Basti in Assam. He had been living with his family on a farm near Koroth Poyil in Chelannur, where his parents worked.
The accident occurred around 2.00 pm, reportedly in front of his mother and sisters. Though Piyar was rushed to the Kozhikode Government Medical College Hospital, he was declared brought dead at the casualty. “The body has been shifted to the mortuary,” a police officer on duty said.
The Kakkur police have registered a case of accidental death. The ambulance was travelling towards Kozhikode from Balussery at the time of the incident.
