Idukki: The body of Jessy (50), a Kottayam native missing since September 27, was recovered from a rubber plantation near Cheppukulam in Idukki. Her husband, Sam George of Kappadakkunnel, Pattithanam, has been taken into custody by Karimannoor police in connection with the case.

Jessy’s body was found about 30 feet below the roadside at Chakkurammandi on the Udumbannoor–Thattakuzha–Cheppukulam route on Friday, following Sam George’s confession during interrogation. Police said he admitted to strangling her after a heated quarrel at their Kooroppada home on September 26. The next morning, he transported the body in a vehicle and dumped it in the plantation, an area he was familiar with from his past residence, before fleeing to Bengaluru.

Jessy’s children, employed abroad, grew suspicious after being unable to reach her and alerted a family friend and their advocate, who helped file a missing-person complaint with the police.

Sam George was tracked down in Bengaluru, where he was found in the company of a foreign woman. Police are probing whether she had any role in the crime.
