Moolamattom: Sixteen tourists were injured after a traveller van overturned near Chathanpara at Puthet, along the Kanjiyar–Pullikanam road, around 5 pm on Friday.
The van, carrying tourists from Tamil Nadu on their return from Vagamon, lost control and toppled after hitting a rock. Locals, passersby, police, and fire and rescue personnel rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to a private hospital in Moolamattom.
Eyewitnesses said the accident could have been more tragic if the vehicle had not been stopped by the rock, as it might have plunged into a deep gorge nearby.
The rescue operation was led by Kanjiyar police and the Moolamattom fire force.
