Nadapuram: A 12-year-old boy had a miraculous escape after being flung into the air when an over speeding car hit him near the KR Higher Secondary School at Purameri on the Nadapuram–Vadakara road.
The victim has been identified as Salman, son of Shoukah Ali of Vadakkumkara Thazhe Kuni, Kodencherry, Velloor.
The accident occurred on Saturday noon when Salman, a Class 7 student, was crossing the road with his friend after offering prayers at a nearby mosque. The impact threw him nearly 10 metres away, leaving him with multiple injuries. He was first rushed to the Nadapuram Government Hospital for initial treatment and later shifted to a private hospital in Vadakara for further care.
Locals said that both residents and school authorities had repeatedly requested the authorities to implement speed-control measures while restoring the State Highway stretch that passes in front of the school. However, no steps were taken in this regard, they alleged.
