Mayyil: An actor was bitten by a dog that climbed onto the stage during an awareness play about street dog attacks. P Radhakrishnan (57), a theatre artist from Kandakaparambu, was bitten amid the performance.
The incident occurred on Sunday night around 8 pm at the Kandakaparambu Krishnapillai Memorial Library. Radhakrishnan was performing his solo play, 'Pekkaalam,' as part of an awareness program against the menace of street dogs. A short while after the play began, a dog came from behind the stage, bit him on the back of his right leg, and then ran off.
During a scene depicting a child being attacked by a street dog, barking sounds were used in the background. It was at this moment that the dog attacked. Although the audience saw the dog enter and exit the stage, they assumed it was part of the play.
Only after enduring the pain for about ten minutes and completing the play did Radhakrishnan inform the organizers. He subsequently sought treatment at Pariyaram Government Medical College Hospital.
