Vadakara: The Chombal police here have successfully persuaded a woman, who had left home to end her life, to return to safety. A native of Vallikkunnu, the woman had fallen into depression following the death of a close friend, prompting her to leave her home in distress.

Earlier, the Chombal police received information that the woman had gone missing. Tracking her mobile phone location to a tower at Edakkakkandi Kunnu near Onchiyam, a police team led by SI K Firos rushed to the scene in two groups. Locals too grew anxious seeing police officers running along the railway tracks.

Despite sustaining injuries from falls, the police pressed on with their search and finally found the woman in a bushy area near Mukkali station . By the time she was traced, only five minutes was left before the arrival of a train to he spot. She was rescued and handed over to her parents, who were called to the scene.

The rescue operation was carried out by ASI K K Sajith, Senior Civil Police Officers K KRatheesh, K Sandhya, P Umesh and Home Guard K Pavithran.
