Thrissur: After Malayala Manorama newspaper exposed the ED summons to Pinarayi Vijayan's son, former Congress MLA Anil Akkara, who made major revelations in the Wadakkanchery Life Mission project scam, came up with fresh allegations against the CM and his family. Addressing the media here on Saturday, the Congress leader accused the CM of striking a secret deal with the BJP to save his son from the money laundering case registered by the Directorate of Enforcement (ED).
“We all know that the ED had served a notice to the CM’s son, Vivek Kiran. The summons was issued to the address of Cliff House, the official residence of the Kerala Chief Minister. Although Vivek did not appear before ED officials for questioning in 2023, the central agency did not take any further action against him,” said Anil Akkara.
“Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had a meeting with Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the presence of KV Thomas. During this meeting, he agreed to the BJP’s terms to save his son from the money laundering case. Suresh Gopi’s victory in the Lok Sabha elections from Thrissur was part of this deal,” alleged the Congress leader.
He further alleged that Vivek, along with Swapna Suresh and others, attempted to swindle ₹1,000 crore raised from Arab countries for the rebuilding of Kerala after the 2018 floods. He added that the CM’s family was part of the “V Company” mentioned by Swapna Suresh, who was arrested in the diplomatic baggage gold smuggling case.
“The Chief Minister and his family exploited a great calamity in the state for their monetary gains. Swapna Suresh has now disappeared, and Egyptian national Khalid, who was also booked in the case, is missing. The ₹1,000 crore scam planned by the ‘V Company,’ as mentioned by Swapna Suresh, is covered up under a BJP-CPM deal,” he added.
Anil Akkara also claimed that the Supreme Court is not taking up petitions related to the scam due to pressure from the Centre.
The former Wadakkancherry MLA has been engaged in a legal battle against the LDF government since the Life Mission scam came to light. He has repeatedly taken on the CPM through press conferences, raising serious allegations against the party over the issue. He had released several crucial documents related to the scam and demanded a CBI probe into the case.
Talking to the media, Akkara said that the Life Mission scam will not be investigated when the CPM and the BJP are in power.
